Last season on Arrow, the team suffered a rather large blow following the shocking death of Laurel Lance. Fans were floored by this move, however it sounds as though the Black Canary will be back on the hit DC Entertainment drama next season despite her apparent end at the hands of Damien Darhk.
During an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Wendy Mericle teased: “I can’t say too much about that. I can say with confidence that, in Season 5, our decision will make more sense… even to the fans who were really vehemently opposed to it.”
She adds that fans will be able to find out what Laurel said to Oliver right before she died, in the Season 5 premiere on Wednesday, October 5th.
Showrunner Marc Guggenheim also commented that actress Katie Cassidy would not have time to appear on Legends of Tomorrow, as some have hoped, because she will still be a part of Arrow moving forward.
Mericle also took some time to tease the next big bad putting Oliver in their sights.
“Somebody Oliver unwittingly created in Season 1 when he was a killer in a hood. This guy is going to be collateral damage who lost someone to the Hood and [has] spent the last several years training and plotting for revenge. He will be a true dark mirror to Oliver Queen.”
An intriguing teaser indeed!
Starring Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, Echo Kellum, Rick González, Josh Segarra, Cody Rhodes and Paul Blackthorne, Arrow returns for Season 5 Wednesday, October 5th at 8pm.
