Things are looking good for David Ayer's Suicide Squad.
The third chapter of the DC Expanded Universe is tracking toward an enormous $125-Million North American opening when it arrives in theatres on August 5th. However, some analysts believe it could climb even higher - perhaps $135-Million plus.
Either way, Suicide Squad should have no trouble topping Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy, which enjoyed at $94.3-Milion North American opening in August 2014 and remains the record holder for top August opening.
The movie centers around a crack group of supervillains sent on a deadly mission by the government in exchange for a taste of freedom and shaving time off their sentences. The movie is another defining moment for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment as they attempt to launch a cinematic universe capable of rivalling the Marvel juggernaut.
Earlier this year, Batman v Superman debuted to a massive $166-Million, earning it the record for the biggest March opening in box office history. The superhero showdown would end its run with $872-Million, making it one of the highest grossing comic book movies of all time.
Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Karen Fukuhara, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne, Suicide Squad arrives in theatres on August 5th.
