Last week, Ben Affleck set the Internet ablaze when he shared a video that seemingly confirmed Deathstroke would be coming to the DC Expanded Universe. With this in mind, many fans have wondered if this means Slade Wilson's time on Arrow has drawn to a close.
This exact question was presented to the show's leading man, Stephen Amell, during a recent panel at Salt Lake Comic Con. With Deathstroke set to appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League and The Batman, alongside Ben Affleck, does this mean Manu Bennett will no longer be able to reprise the role in future episodes of Arrow?
Amell responded, "That's actually something that people bring up on a regular basis…that DC has told us you can’t have or you must get rid of [this character]. That’s not how that works. Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns – the people at Warner Bros. on the feature side, the people at Warner Bros. on the television side – are all in the business of making the best products for fans. Just because there may or may not be a Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe doesn’t mean Manu Bennett can’t exist on our show."
This may come as a bit of a surprise given that other members of the cast and crew behind Arrow have stated that Warner Bros. made them kill off the small screen versions of both Amanda Waller and Deadshot - this changing plans for Season 4 of the hit DC Entertainment drama.
Then again, perhaps things have changed since Geoff Johns took control over at DC Entertainment.
In any case, it'll be interesting to see how the powers that be decide to handle this whole thing - because we know a lot of fans would love to see Manu Bennett suit up as Slade Wilson on the small screen once again.
