ABC and IMAX are targeting a Labor Day IMAX launch for The Inhumans.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the first two episodes of the upcoming television series will screen September 4th in over 1000 IMAX locations in 74 different countries. The plan is for it to run for two weeks starting on Labor Day before it later screens on ABC with additional footage for fans.
The first two episodes are being shot entirely with IMAX cameras, while action scenes set for future episodes of the highly anticipated show will also be shot using the same technology.
ABC is hoping the IMAX screenings will help set The Inhumans apart from the rest of the 2017 Fall television slate. ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood says: “We think this is a quadruple win — a win for IMAX, a win for Marvel, a win for ABC Studios and a win for ABC to launch a show in an innovative way and get attention.”
We're inclined to agree.
Interestingly, the trade also reports that the upcoming TV show is not meant to replace The Inhumans movie over at Marvel Studios.
