Jeffrey Leavitt, a spokesperson for actor Ron Glass has stated that on Friday, the talented actor passed away at the age of 71.
"It is with a very heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my dear friend and client Ron Glass," Leavitt said. "Ron passed late last night of respiratory failure. Ron was a private, gentle and caring man. He was an absolute delight to watch on screen. Words cannot adequately express my sorrow," he said
Ron Glass portrayed Shepherd Book on the cult Fox show, Firefly, and in the follow-up film Serenity. One of the most popular cult TV shows to grace the small screen in recent years, Glass was easily one of the many things that made the short-lived series so very memorable.
Glass was also known for his role on Barney Miller, which ran from 1974 until 1982. Glass was nominated for an Emmy thanks to his supporting role as Detective Ron Harris on the show.
The actor was also a skilled in voice-over work with a resume that included parts on such popular animated shows as Superman, Aladdin, Rugrats The Proud Family.
