Justice League Casts Its Steppenwolf

Zack Snyder's Justice League has found its Steppenwolf.

The famed DC Comics villain will be portrayed by Game Of Thrones actor Ciaran Hinds.

Hinds recently wrapped production on the role of Steppenwolf, who is a motion capture character from an alien planet similar to Marvel big bad Thanos played by Josh Brolin.

Sources close to the project also reveal that Steppenwolf will be getting an upgraded look from his first appearance in the DC Expanded Universe, which came as a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

The character is in search of three mother boxes, powerful alien artifacts, in Justice League.

“[Back] before there was a history … mankind, the Atlanteans — before they were under water — the Amazonians and, actually, the old gods, teamed together and decided that — based on an event that happened — these mother boxes were going to be placed in the care of, as I say, the Amazonians, mankind and the Atlanteans,” producer Charles Roven revealed. “So that allows us to get into some of those environments.”

In DC Comics lore, Steppenwolf is a lieutenant of Darkseid, the tyrannical ruler of Apokolips.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Ray Fisher, Willem Dafoe and J.K. Simmons. Directed by Zack Snyder, the superhero team-up hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
