Universal Is Working On A Voltron Movie

Few cartoons have stood the test of time the way Voltron has. Sure, it may be pushing 32 years old, but the North American take on Asia's Beast King GoLion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV anime has amassed one heck of a fan base.

Earlier this year, DreamWorks rejuvenated the brand with the hugely popular Voltron: Legendary Defender series on Netflix, and now it sound like fans may soon see  the franchise take to the big screen as Universal has a live-action Voltron movie currently in development!

According to Deadline, the studio has inherited a live-action adaptation of the property thanks to a recent deal between both Universal and DreamWorks Animation.

X-Men scribe David Hayter is working on the script.

This seems like the perfect time for a Voltron film! As we said, the brand has a rather passionate following, so we're sure it'd have plenty of support once it hit the box office. Additionally, other classic 80's properties such as G.I. Joe and Transformers have recently been adapted for the big screen, so why not Voltron? Universal would do well to get this one into production as soon as possible. After all, who doesn't love a tale of young pilots fighting off an alien menace from within a giant, sword-wielding robot?

What do you think, Infinite Earths fans?
