According to Variety, Ben Affleck has confirmed a start date for The Batman.
The trade reports: Affleck indicated that he expected the film will begin shooting in the spring.
The actor, who was praised for his role as The Caped Crusader in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, would go on to share his enthusiasm for the project.
“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”
He would also take some time to praise past actors and filmmakers who've all put their stamp on Bob Kane's iconic crime fighter, all while addressing the need to put his own spin on the character.
“I respect all of those [Batman] movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me.”
There has been a lot of talk surrounding The Batman in recent days. Last week, word broke that Warner Bros. had decided to push the Justice League sequel back to make room for the solo Batman movie, while Affleck himself spoke of how he refused to rush the film into production.
Starring Ben Affleck, Joe Manganiello, Jeremy Irons and J.K. Simmons, The Batman is on track to begin production this Spring!
