Fox will begin production on The New Mutants next year.
Omega Underground has confirmed that filming will begin on the X-Men spinoff in May 2017.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that an untitled X-Men movie would begin production in Montréal in May 2017. Fans originally assumed the untitled flick would serve as a sequel to this year's X-Men: Apocalypse, but it has now confirmed that it will in fact be Josh Boone's young adult spinoff.
Interestingly, the official title of the film has also been revealed to be X-Men: The New Mutants. This is a smart move on the part of Fox as it informs fans that this spinoff is part of the same franchise as Bryan Singer's movies despite the fact that a new set of characters will be featured.
Neither Fox nor director Josh Boone have officially commented on the status of the film at this time, but rumor has it that the film may be based off the popular Demon Bear saga.
Here's hoping, with production a mere six months away, we get some casting announcements soon.
