Rogue One Director Wants An Obi-Wan Movie

There is no doubt that fans want Disney and Lucasfilm to release an Obi-Wan Kenobi anthology film. Even Ewan McGregor is interested in returning as the famed Jedi Knight once again. In fact, even Rogue One director Gareth Edwards has expressed interest in seeing an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

While speaking with Fandango about his upcoming Star Wars movie, Edwards revealed that he'd like to see some more films from the beloved Original Trilogy era - more specifically, one dealing with Obi-Wan and his adopted home of Tatoonie.

“To be honest, Rogue One is the period I love. It’s connecting to the original New Hope. If someone made other films in that era – and I don’t necessarily think this is happening, I have no inside knowledge – but that desire to see Obi-Wan Kenobi. Tattooine, basically, I love. As a kid I remember wanting to grow up there; anything in that “Original Trilogy” era I am just besotted with, and it’s just like going back home to your childhood.”

As mentioned above, McGregor has expressed interest in taking up the role once again, even though he claims to not be in the know when it comes to future Star Wars movies. Even Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy refused to rule it out.

However, with the Star Wars slate pretty jam-packed over the next few years, this might be one fans will have to wait a little while for. But, like they say, good things come to those who wait!

What do you guys think? Would you like to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff?
