Zack Snyder is taking a break from the DC Expanded Universe.
After wrapping work on Justice League, the director is now preparing to helm his long-in-development thriller The Last Photograph. Set in war torn Afghanistan, Snyder began to set up the project in the mid-2000s, after the success of 300.
Initially, Snyder was to jump right back into the world of DC Comics with a Justice League sequel, but Warner Bros. has decided to push that project back a bit in favour of Ben Affleck's highly anticipated solo flick, The Batman.
So, one could look at Snyder's next project as a palate cleanser of sorts.
Despite this, Snyder is still intent on directing the sequel, which was originally slated for release on June 14, 2019. It was also set to film back-to-back with Snyder's first Justice League movie.
It is currently unknown if The Batman will now take over the sequel's intended release date.
