While Assassin's Creed failed to break the video game movie curse, fans still have the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot to look forward to, and now we know when that one will be filming!
My Entertainment World reports that the highly anticipated movie will begin production in January 2017, with filming set to take place in South Africa and the UK respectively.
Roar Uthaug will direct with Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander portraying Lara Croft and Walton Goggins as the movie's main antagonist. Producer Graham King recently revealed that the movie's story will center around Lara’s search for her father:
“Well this is kind of what we call a ‘back to the roots story’. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and i think we’ve got the right crew and a great director and I think it’s going to be really fun making a film like this.”
Tomb Raider is slated for release on March 16, 2018.
