Things have been rather quiet on the Black Lightning front lately, but a new report has surfaced that seems to hint that things are slowly moving forward on the new DC Entertainment series.
According to My Entertainment World, the series, which will air on Fox and follow the adventures of Jefferson Pierce as he is forced to return to the role of superhero, will begin filming this March down in New Orleans. If this is indeed the case, casting for the project should be announced very soon.
Black Lightning comes from Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, alongside DC TV visionary Greg Berlanti. Earlier reports indicate that the Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have been working on this project for over a year now as those involved wanted to get it done right. Additionally, it was at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour that Berlanti confirmed that as of right now, there are no plans to connect this new show to the Arrowverse.

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
