There are plenty of baddies looking to take down the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the masked menace known as Crossbones. The character made his big screen debut last summer in Joe and Anthony Russo's Captain America: Civil War, and many fans have been wondering when he'll be popping up again.
But, according to actor Frank Grillo, he's pretty much finished with Crossbones.
“I think I’m done,” Grillo told Collider, first referring to his work with the Purge franchise. “Same thing with Captain America. There’s nowhere for it to go, unless you’re Captain America or Iron Man. They were talking about it, but I was like, ‘You know what? I’d just rather not do it.’ I’m so appreciative and grateful to have been a part of something that big.”
This is rather disheartening, especially if you consider that back in July Grillo hinted he may not be finished with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, there are many out there who feel his character died in Captain America: Civil War, but as the actor pointed out in an interview with ABC News: “You think he dies, don't you? Did you see the body?”
If you're like us, you'll no doubt hate to see Crossbones leave the MCU, but we should keep in mind that Grillo could always be bluffing. What do you think, Infinite Earths fans? Will we see Crossbones make a comeback, or do you think his days of terrorizing Captain America have officially come to an end?
