I Choose You! Pokémon Mega Bloks Are Coming

Nintendo's popular brand of Pocket Monsters will soon be the latest license to get the Mega Bloks treatment from Mattel. Even after twenty years, Pokémon is still one of the most desirable toy licenses on the market today, and now Mattel has the construction toy segment of that license locked down good and tight!

Mega Construx Pokémon sets will start hitting North American stores this coming summer, featuring high quality figures of Pikachu, Charizard and other popular characters from the original Kanto Region seen in the classic Red and Blue gaming titles from back in the day.

Mattel's Mega Brands recently split the Mega Bloks line in two, leaving the Bloks name on builing sets aimed at children and swapping Contrux in for its preteen to adult collector lines. Interestingly enough, this new Pokémon line should come as no surprise to collectors and fans - Bandai has been selling Mega Bloks construction sets in Japan since 2016.

“Mega Construx brings the engaging world of Pokémon to life in one of the most popular play expressions for kids today,” said Colin Palmer, VP of marketing at The Pokémon Company International via press release. “We bring only the highest quality Pokémon experiences to our fans around the world and Mega Brands’ attention to detail and thoughtful creativity with Mega Construx is sure to delight kids as well as the most passionate Pokémon trainers.”

Mattel will be showcasing the Mega Construx Pokémon sets at Toy Fair this weekend in New York! And they've already got our money thanks to that awesome Charizard figure pictured above! What can we say? We're suckers for new toys based around the original 151.

Look for these sets to begin hitting retail in North America this summer.

Are you ready to Catch 'Em All?
