Simon Kinberg, the writer-producer behind the X-Men film franchise, is reportedly the top contender to direct the studio’s next Marvel Mutant project.
Kinberg has been involved with the series since X-Men: The Last Stand back in 2006. Since then, he has emerged as one of the most important players in the X-Men cinematic universe, having his hands in the main X-Men line as well as recent and upcoming spinoffs Deadpool, Logan, and Legion.
Kinberg has wrote the script for the next X-Men movie and, according to sources, the studio is planning on bringing some familiar faces back for the new installment.
Interestingly, Kinberg has never directed before, but he has stepped in to help manage past Fox projects including X-Men: Apocalypse and the recent Fantastic Four reboot from Josh Trank.
Fox had no comment, and there is no official offer on the table at this time.
Currently, Kinberg is prepping for producer roles on Deadpool 2 and New Mutants.
