This week saw the debut of the DC Entertainment comedy series Powerless on NBC. Viewers were transported to Earth-P and dropped right in the middle of a heated confrontation involving a red-clad superheroine known as Crimson Fox. The protector of Charm City, Fox helped save a train full of commuters from the demented Jack O'Lantern, and introduced Emily Locke to the world of superheroes in a very big way.
However, the question remains. Just who is the Crimson Fox?
Created by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Bart Sears, she was first introduced within the pages of Justice League Europe #6 back in September of 1989. Crimson Fox is actually the superhero identity of identical twins Vivian and Constance D'Aramis, industrialists who ran Revson, a major Parisian perfume company. They would use their chemical skills to develop scents that would give them control of pheromones, which could change the emotional fortitude of others.
Both sisters have enhanced agility and pheromone powers.
They're suits are also equipped with metal claws.
Constance would eventually end up faking her death so the sisters could share an identity, and lead some semblance of a normal life. They would both end up joining the ranks of the Justice League International, where they would both end up developing romantic feelings for fellow teammate Metamorpho.
Vivian D'Aramis would meet her fate at the hands of French supervillain Puanteur. Three years later, serving as a member of Justice League Europe, Constance D'Aramis would end up being killed at the hands of a new version of The Mist.
Eight years later, in the pages of Geoff Johns' Green Lantern #11, it was revealed that a new woman had taken the mantle of the Crimson Fox. Operating out of Paris, this new heroine joined the ranks of the Global Guardians and claimed to have inherited the D'Aramis perfume fortune.
Crimson Fox has not been seen since the Flashpoint relaunch of 2011.
Granted, it is currently unknown which version of the Crimson Fox is helping defend Charm City over on Earth-P, but it sure is nice to see a lesser known superheroine getting some time in the spotlight thanks to DC TV. Here's hoping we'll learn a little more about this mysterious character as Powerless proceeds with its freshman season.
Until next time, Infinite Earths fans!
