The LEGO Batman Movie Builds A Box Office Win

The LEGO Batman Movie built a win its opening weekend at the box office.

The Chris McKay spinoff brought in a nice $55.6-Million from 4,088 different locations, netting it the biggest box office opening of the year. The animated feature was successful in topping some pretty intense competition in the form of Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick 2 respectively.

The LEGO Batman Movie was expected to clear $60-Million during its opening weekend, but bad weather on the East Coast is believed to have impacted that final number ever so slightly.

Will Arnett voices the role of the Brick Knight as the superhero tries to find himself and save Gotham City from a hostile takeover by The Joker. The voice cast also includes the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Billy Dee Williams, and Ralph Fiennes.

The animated feature currently sits at a Fresh 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
