The Top 10 Toy Fair Reveals Of 2017

There is no doubt that Toy Fair is easily the most wonderful and most frustrating weekend of the year for collectors. Wonderful because the top names in the industry all converge upon the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to show off all the great toys and collectibles headed our way for the first portion of the year; frustrating because most of them won't be available for purchase until a later date.

Still, what a weekend! And so with that said, we once again come to you with a look at what we considered to be the Top 10 Toy Fair Reveals Of 2017! With literally hundreds of thousands of items teased or on display there certainly was a lot to pick from, but we feel we've once again separated the very best that the show had to offer - for your viewing pleasure, of course!

And so, as we prepare our wallets for another massive hit in the coming year, we present to you our list of The Top 10 Toy Fair Reveals Of 2017...

#10 - Mega Construx Pokémon - Well, it's the 21st anniversary of the Pokémon franchise after all! Nintendo's popular brand of Pocket Monsters will soon be the latest license to get the Mega Bloks treatment from Mattel. Still one of the most desirable toy licenses on the market today, Pokémon will finally be bringing building sets over to North America beginning this summer. The first assortment will feature some fan-favorite characters from the classic Red and Blue gaming titles, and we're guessing these will be a very big hit with fans who grew up with the original 151 Kanto Pokémon!

Why We Love It: We've been waiting for Pokémon building sets for years, and now Mattel is about to make all that waiting and hoping worthwhile.

#9 - Transformers: The Last Knight Voyager Class Scorn - We don't know about you guys, but we were pretty disappointed with the majority of the Transformers: Age Of Extinction line from Hasbro back in 2014. However, nothing disappointed us more than the fact that most of the Dinobots only ever got the Deluxe Class treatment. Well, it looks as though Hasbro is looking to slowly rectify that mistake with a Voyager Class Scorn figure for Transformers: The Last Knight. We're loving everything about the look of this new figure and can't wait to reenact a Cybertronian version of the T-rex vs. Spinosaurs fight from Jurassic Park III using this new figure and its Voyager Grimlock wave mate. What can we say? We're suckers for properly scaled Dinobots - even if they are based on the Transformers movie universe, which we like just fine! Look for the first assortment to begin hitting store shelves this spring.

Why We Love It: How can you not love a big mechanical Spinosaurus that transforms into a battle ready robot warrior? Also, how disappointing were those Deluxe Class versions from 2014?

#8 - Marvel Legends Moon Knight - You would not believe how many emails and messages we have gotten over the last few years asking if we knew what the chances were of Hasbro releasing a brand new Moon Knight figure into the Marvel Legends line! At least we now have an answer for all of you as Hasbro showcased a brand new plastic rendition of  Doug Moench and Don Perlin's famed Marvel Comics vigilante at Toy Fair - and it did not disappoint. This fully articulated 6" figure looks fantastic, and comes with enough crime fighting gadgets to make even the likes of The Dark Knight himself smile with approval. Moon Knight will be hitting store shelves later this year, so be sure to keep your eyes open, he's sure to be on every Marvel Legends collector's list in 2017.

Why We Love It: Fans have been waiting for an updated Moon Knight figure from Hasbro for quite some time now, and it looks as though the wait was well worth it.

#7 - Star Wars Black Series 6" Tusken Raider - This year marks the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope, and Hasbro looks to be pulling out all the stops this year with a new assortment of merchandise centered around the milestone - including this rather impressive looking 6" Tusken Raider set to debut in the Black Series line later this year! Honestly, what's not to love here? The detail and paint look great, he comes complete with a soft-goods tunic and comes packaged alongside everything from a rifle to his trademark gaffi stick. Hasbro even went the extra mile with this one, slapping a classic Kenner logo on the cardback and even marketing the figure by its original name - Sand People. Hey, wouldn't Sand Person make more sense? Meh, whatever. Still a cool looking figure that we can't wait to get our hands on.

Why We Love It: A great addition to the 40th Anniversary Star Wars line, this one has lots to love about it from a soft tunic and gaffi stick accessory to classic Kenner styling that calls to mind the first Star Wars action figures to be released all those years ago.

#6 - Marvel Legends Netflix Daredevil - Hasbro really brought out the big guns in the Marvel Legends line this year, but none has us more excited than the upcoming Daredevil figure based off the hit Netflix series! I mean, the show has been out long enough that there should at least be some action figures out there for us to buy, right? Hasbro's version comes fully articulated, features a pair of billy club accessories and features the red and black costume first glimpsed at the end of Season 1 as Matt Murdock pummeled the Kingpin into submission. Elekrta, Punisher and Jessica Jones will also be getting new action figures based off their streaming service counterparts this year, but if you were to ask us, we'd say that The Man Without Fear is the best looking one of them all!

Why We Love It: The Netflix Daredevil show has been out long enough that there should be action figures of these characters out there for us to buy at retail - and now, Hasbro is finally going to make that happen in 2017! Expect this one, and the subsequent Netflix Marvel Legends figures to be extremely popular with Marvel Legends collectors in 2017.

#5 -DC Icons Doomsday & Superman Deluxe Set - 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of Superman's death at the hands of Doomsday in the 1992 graphic novel The Death Of Superman from Dan Jurgens. DC Collectibles is celebrating this milestone with a very cool DC Icons deluxe set featuring the Man of Steel locked in fearsome combat with Doomsday. Both 6" figures will be fully articulated and the set includes many interesting and cool accessories including interchangeable parts, a display base complete with a torn cape and more! Pitting these two famed DC Comics combatant together in a single set was an excellent idea on the part of DC Collectibles, who've proven that they know how to celebrate the legacy of their timeless characters time and again!

Why We Love It: Superman takes on Doomsday in this awesome multipack that looks as though it was ripped right from the pages of the classic Dan Jurgens story! What better way to celebrate 25 years of The Death Of Superman than with such an awesome action figure set?

#4 - Batman: The Animated Series Batcave Playset - DC Collectibles has given us the Batmobile and the Batwing from Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series, so why not continue the trend by giving fans the chance to add the Batcave, or at least a portion of it, to their DC collection? Set for release in October, this incredible set looks as though it was taken right off the television screen and shrunken down to a more convenient size. And who better to look after the Batcave while The Dark Knight and Boy Wonder keep the streets of Gotham safe and secure than Alfred Pennyworth! The 6" figure comes fully articulated and complete with a tea set and feather duster accessories! We're guessing it won't be too long before fans will be able to reenact their favorite episodes of the classic animated series using just the figures, vehicles and playsets provided by DC Collectibles - and that sounds like a lot of fun to us!

Why We Love It: It's a playset based off the Batcave seen in the best Batman animated series to ever hit television screens - complete with an Alfred figure and  a light-up computer system! We'd be crazy not to include something this awesome on our list for the year!

#3 - DC Multiverse Collect & Connect Clayface - It's so great to see Mattel releasing 6" action figures based off characters from throughout the DC Universe again, and this year they brought a really big surprise in the form of a brand new Clayface (image courtesy of Action Figure Pics)  action figure. Set for release in the Multiverse line, this massive creature will be the Collect & Connect figure for an upcoming wave of action figures ripped right from the pages of the recent DC Universe: Rebirth Detective Comics book. While he won't be made up of a rubber material like his past DC Universe Classics figure, this has got to be one of the coolest Collect & Connect figures Mattel has ever produced and we'll be sure to hunt down every last one of the smaller scale figures just so we can build and display this amazing Clayface! No word on a release date for the wave just yet, but you can be sure the assortment will be arriving on store shelves later on this year - although, we're really not sure we can wait that long...

Why We Love It: Just Look At It! Also, the DC Universe: Rebirth Detective Comics title from James Tynion, Eddy Barrows, and Alvaro Martinez is too awesome to not have figures based around it!

#2 - Transformers Generations Trypticon - If you haven't guessed by now, we love transforming dinosaurs, and who to best represent that group than the hulking Decepticon beast known as Trypticon? Set for release this coming Fall, this all-new figure will have three different modes of transformation including a Dino form, a Spaceship form, and a City form. If that's not cool enough, while in his Dino form, Trypticon can eat smaller Titan Master figures , which can then be pulled out of the figure's stomach - calling to mind the Bull T-rex released for The Lost World: Jurassic Park action figure line from back in 1997. Additionally, Deluxe Class Full-Tilt figure, and a Titan Master Decepticon Necro figure will also be included to sweeten the deal! Not bad for something that'll set you back $149.99.

Why We Love It: It's not only a transforming Tyrannosaurus, but it's also the largest Decepticon action figure to ever see a retail release! He has three modes of transformation, comes complete with two smaller Transformers and has the ability to eat smaller figures! Still not convinced?

#1 - Justice League Batmobile - Mattel comes out on top this year thanks to their upcoming remote controlled Batmobile! Based off the vehicle set to be seen in Zack Snyder's Justice League this November, Mattel says that this will be an exact replica of what fans can expect to see in the movie. Priced at $250, the Batmobile is pretty high tech and features everything from real exhaust, to a built in camera so you can see footage on your phone as you control the vehicle remotely. Oh, and it also comes with an included Batman figure (which we're hoping is better than the mass retail version Mattel gave us for Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice). Either way, this is one snazzy set of wheels and we can't wait to get our hands on it (image courtesy of CNET)!

Why We Love It: This is essentially the closest fans will get to owning an actual Batmobile from Zack Snyder's Justice League movie! It's loaded with tech and, at $250, is sure to provide hours of fun for fans and collectors alike! Now, the only question is, will we need to insure it?

And so, with that, our countdown of the Top 10 Toy Fair Reveals for 2017 has come to a close. While everything listed here is sure to get many fans excited, it's just a taste of what's to come during the next 365 days - and it's sure to be one wild, wallet-killing ride!
