Aquaman Scribe To Pen Creature From The Black Lagoon

Universal Pictures has tapped Aquaman scribe Will Beall to write The Creature From The Black Lagoon, a remake of the 1954 classic that will serve as part of the studio's rebooted classic movie monster universe.

Beall is not only known for his writing talents. He recently served as an executive producer on Training Day, the CBS series transplant of the hit movie.

Creature From The Black Lagoon will be produced by both Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. Both men are the architects of Universal’s Monsters Universe - which kicks off on June 9th with The Mummy starring Tom Cruise.

Released in the summer of 1954, the original Creature From The Black Lagoon followed a group of scientists as they traveled up the Amazon river searching for rare fossils. During their expedition, the team discovers a prehistoric human-fish hybrid who is eventually vanquished. That film, which starred Julie Adams, Richard Carlson, Richard Denning and Nestor Paiva, spawned two sequels. A remake has long been under development at Universal.

What do you think, Infinite Earths fans?

Creature From The Black Lagoon is easily our most favorite out of all Universal's classic movie monsters, so we're very eager to see a new take on the iconic beast grace the big screen!
