This June, Chris Pine will be the first actor to portray iconic DC Comics character Steve Trevor in Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman. To coincide with the film's release, DC Comics has announced a brand new one-shot centered around Diana's long-time love interest.
Written by Tim Seeley (Grayson) and illustrated by Christian Duce (Batman & Robin Eternal), Wonder Woman: Steve Trevor #1 pits Trevor against an ancient foe without any help from the Amazonian princess.
"Steve and Diana’s longtime friendship, despite their coming from separate worlds, is inspiring," Seeley said in a statement. "But in this story, we’ll get a chance to see Steve come face to face with a villain from Wonder Woman’s past, who he’ll have to overcome without her help."
The character of Steve Trevor was created by William Moulton Marston and H.G. Peter. He first debuted in the pages of All Star Comics #8 back in 1941 - the same issue that introduced Wonder Woman to the DC Universe. He becomes the first man to set foot on Themyscira after his plane is shot down, and later introduces Diana to the world of man.
Wonder Woman: Steve Trevor #1 hits newsstands on June 7th.
