The first Guardians Of The Galaxy brought in over $773-Million worldwide when it was released back in the summer of 2014, and analysts are predicting that the upcoming sequel could do just as good when it's released this coming May. With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that Marvel Studios has plans for a third entry in the franchise. The only question is: Who's going to direct it?
Speaking with Complex, James Gunn, who directed the first Guardians Of The Galaxy and its upcoming sequel, assured fans that there will be a third big screen adventure for Star-Lord and his crew of intergalactic misfits. However, he also adds that he may not necessarily be the one in the director's chair when that time finally comes.
Gunn says, "There will be a Guardians 3, that's for sure. We're trying to figure it out. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do really, that's all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing. You know, I'm going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I'm just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks."
We're really hoping that he'll decide to stay on for a third movie, and there is no doubt that Marvel will try to do everything they can to bring him back - especially if the sequel does as well as it's expected to do. What do you think, Infinite Earths fans? Should James Gunn return to direct another Guardians Of The Galaxy for Marvel Studios? We certainly think so!
However, that is a long way off. Until then, be sure to check out Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 when it hits the big screen on May 5th.
