King Kong Rules The Thursday Box Office

Kong Is King!

The Warner Bros. epic pulled in $3.7-Million from Thursday night pre-shows, topping the box office. The film expands into an additional 3,846 theaters today and will also be shown in IMAX and 3D. Overseas, Kong: Skull Island raked in an additional $3.3-Million and finished first in South Korea, France, Russia and Indonesia resepectively.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the movie's opening projections are sitting at $135-Million globally, with $45-$50-Million expected from North America this weekend.

A trip back to the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes, the new film will follow a team of explorers who venture deep inside the treacherous, primordial island to find the leader’s brother and a mythical serum, confronting extraordinary creatures along the way.

Starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, Corey Hawkins, and Toby Kebbell, Kong: Skull Island swings into theaters today.
