Legendary is preparing for the main event!
The studio has set up a writers room for the upcoming Godzilla vs King Kong film which is set for a 2020 release. No director or cast are currently attached.
Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean) is teaming with the likes of Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner), J. Michael Straczynski (Sense8) and authors Lindsey Beer (The Kingkiller Chronicles) and Cat Vasko (Queen of the Air) to work on the script, which is set to pitch the King Of The Monsters against the Eighth Wonder Of The World.
The movie will serve as the fourth entry in the Legendary MonsterVerse, which also includes Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, and Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King Of The Monsters which will hit the big screen on March 22nd 2019.
This is not the first time a studio has set up a writers room in an effort to assemble a successful cinematic universe. Paramount Pictures put a writers room together for the Transformers franchise, while Universal did the same for their Classic Monsters universe, which begins this summer with The Mummy starring Tom Cruise.
