Logan was king of the box office this weekend.
The R rated X-Men spinoff, which comes from director James Mangold, enjoyed a domestic launch totalling $85.3-Million. Combined with the $152.5-Million brought in from overseas, that brings the highly anticipated superhero flick's global gross to a very impressive $237.8-Million.
Hugh Jackman first took up the role of Wolverine in Bryan Singer's X-Men back in 2000. Since then, he has portrayed the famed Marvel mutant over the course of nine films that have popped up over nearly two decades. Logan marks his last time embodying the character on the big screen.
The film follows an aging Wolverine and Professor Charles Xavier as they navigate a near-future in which mutants are on the verge of being wiped out.
Logan finished first in 80 if the 81 markets where it screened this weekend. It brought in $46.3-Million in China, $11.4-Million over in the United Kingdom, $8.2-Million in South Korea and Brazil, and $7.1-Million in Russia.
Starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant and Eriq La Salle, Logan is playing in theatres now.
