Logan has clawed its way to a new milestone! The James Mangold X-Men spinoff took in $8.6-Million at the North American box office yesterday, bringing its current domestic haul $104.2-Million. That, plus the additional $159-Million brought in from overseas last weekend, has allowed Logan to push the Wolverine trilogy pass the $1-Billion mark globally.
Back in 2009, the disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine brought in $373-Million, while the 2013 follow-up, The Wolverine, raked in $414-Million.
Logan is currently the fourth fastest film in the X-Men franchise to cross the $100-Million mark, sitting behind the likes of Deadpool, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
While it remains to be seen, analysts predict that the R-rated superhero spinoff could top the box office again this weekend. However, it faces some rather stiff competition from Kong: Skull Island, which retells the origin of the famed movie monster that debuted on the big screen in 1933.
Logan is in theaters now.
