Dean Israelite's Power Rangers morphed its way to a box office win this weekend, exceeding expectations and proving that the world is still in love with Saban's classic heroes.
The movie raked in $40.5-Million here in North America despite some fierce competition from Disney's live-action remake of Beauty And The Beast. Heading into its first weekend, the movie was expected to bow somewhere within the $30-Million range.
Combined with the $18.7-Million brought in from overseas and Power Rangers currently sits at a worldwide total of $59.2-Million. If that's not exciting enough, the movie also nabbed an unexpected A rating on CinemaScore and is attracting scores of fans who grew up watching the original television show, which was first introduced to North American audiences back in 1993.
Starring Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, Becky G, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Banks, Power Rangers is playing in theatres now.
