Power Rangers Starts Off Strong With $3.6-Million

Dean Israelite's Power Rangers reboot is morphing into a winner at the box office.

The film kicked things off with a healthy $3.6-Million from Thursday night previews, and is expected to close out its opening weekend with around $40-Million. While it is expected to top other box office newcomers this weekend, including the Ryan Reynolds Sci-Fi flick Life and the Warner Bros. remake of CHIPS, Disney's Beauty And The Beast is still expected to top the weekend box office with somewhere around $80-Million.

Power Rangers follows five teens in a small town who discover artifacts that allow them to morph into crime-fighting heroes. Upon gaining these new powers, they unite to defend their town from destruction by a power-hungry villain.

Starring Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, Becky G, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Banks, Power Rangers is playing in theatres now.
