Adam Cozad, who wrote The Legend of Tarzan for Warner Bros., has entered negotiations to pen the script to the studio's upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.
The DC Films sequel is a priority for the studio. No director is attached at this time, however Mel Gibson has been approached as Warner Bros. focuses on nailing down the right story for the film.
David Ayer directed the first Suicide Squad film, which won an Oscar for best makeup and hairstyling late last month. The film would go on to gross $745-Million during its box office run last summer - despite not seeing a release in China. The film focused on a group of DC supervillains sent on a dangerous mission in Midway City by government higher-ups. In exchange, the villains would receive time off their prison sentences - if they survived the mission that is.
Ayer is not returning to the sequel, but will instead spearhead a spinoff entitled Gotham City Sirens. That film will focus on some of the most famous female villains in the DC Universe and will reunite Ayer with actress Marogt Robbie. Robbie will not only reprise her role as Harley Quinn for the film, but also executive produce the film.
Cozad also wrote the script for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
