Get ready, DC fans! The Flash is preparing to shake things up in Season 4.
Though the show has featured an evil speedster each season - in the form of Reverse-Flash, Zoom, and Savitar - that won't be the case moving into 2018.
"Next season we’re not going to have a speedster [as the villain]," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said at PaleyFest on Saturday. During the weekend event, the casts of Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash gathered to spill the beans on their respective series.
Kreisberg went on to tease the identity of the mysterious Savitar, an evil speed god who was recently revealed to be slightly more mortal after being wounded in battle by Jesse Quick.
"With Savitar, we know who he is under there," Kreisberg says. "We’ve been planning this for a while and we’re really excited about it."
In order to learn the speedster's true identity, Kreisberg teases that Barry may have to domsomethimg bad in order to get the answers he seeks. "Episode 18 has Abra Kadabra, who is also a villain from the future," Kreisberg says. "He knows who Savitar is and comes with a moral conundrum: Do Barry and the team let Abra Kadabra go in order to get Savitar’s identity? It’s a great mortality play. Iris and Barry have a great scene, 'Can you be a hero if you do one bad thing?'"
It's an interesting question, and we look forward to the answer.
With Savitar being the last evil speedster on the hit DC Entertainment drama, at least for the foreseeable future, the question remains: "Which DC Comics villain will be able to fill the shoes of these fleet-footed foes moving into next season?"

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8pm.
