When it was first announced that Woody Harrelson would be playing a mentor to Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff, a lot of fans began speculating that the War For The Planet Of The Apes actor was actually going to be portraying Garris Shrike, a character first introduced in the classic Star Wars story The Paradise Snare.
In a brand new interview with Jimmy Fallon, Harrelson briefly discussed his role in the upcoming movie, confirming that he will play a mentor to Han Solo, but with a different identity than fans may be expecting. Check out the interview posted in the player below...
Now, it is entirely possible that Harrelson is not allowed to reveal the true identity of his character in the movie. However, since taking over Lucasfilm, Disney has been known to cherry pick elements from the Expanded Universe and put their own spin on things. Perhaps this is the case again.
We'll just have to wait and see who Woody Harrelson is playing in the Han Solo movie.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
Written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, the movie will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, Simon Emanuel, and co-produced by Kiri Hart, Susan Towner, and Will Allegra. Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin will executive produce.
The currently untitled Han Solo movie arrives May 25th, 2018.
