While King Kong is currently busy at the box office, the Eighth Wonder Of The World will soon be swinging over to the small screen in a brand new TV show.
MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television have teamed for King Kong Skull Island, the first live-action TV series set within the Kong Universe. Written by Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title, the new show is based off of Merian C. Cooper’s original 1933 King Kong and DeVito ArtWorks’ Skull Island. It will be a serialized, contemporary continuation of the classic film with a female-led, multi-cultural ensemble that delves fully into the wonders and horrors of Skull Island and its origins.
MarVista and IM Global TV will develop, co-produce, and co-finance the series, executive produced by both Penner and Title. Said IM Global TV president Mark Stern, "There’s clearly a deep and abiding interest in this timeless story. We love Stacy and Jonathan’s approach to this adaptation and look forward to partnering with MarVista as we bring this gripping tale of survival and adventure to life for a new generation of Kong fans."
King Kong has appeared in eight feature films and three animated shows since his debut in 1933.
