Sony's animated Spider-Man has finally found his voice!
Shameik Moore, known for his role in the Netflix hip-hop drama The Get Down, will voice the Marvel Comics wall-crawler in the currently untitled animated project.
This movie will not focus on Peter Parker, but on Miles Morales, the popular incarnation of Spider-Man first introduced in 2011 who is half black, half Latino.
Additionally, Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber is joining the project as the voice of the movie's villain - however, the identity of that character is being kept under wraps for the time being.
Phil Lord wrote the project and is executive-producing alongside Chris Miller.
Bob Persichetti is set to co-direct alongside Peter Ramsey.
Plot details for the animated feature are also being kept secret by the studio.
Miles Morales was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli and was introduced in 2011 as part of the Ultimate Marvel imprint, which told tales set in an alternate story universe. That title ended in 2015, however the character had made such an impression on fans by that point that he was integrated into the mainstream Marvel line.
The character most recently appeared in the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man.
