Animated Spider-Man Movie Gets New Release Date

Sony has moved the release date for their upcoming animated Spider-Man movie.

Originally slated to arrive in theaters on December 21st, 2018, the studio has bumped the project up a week to December 14th, 2018. This is no doubt to avoid competition with James Wan's Aquaman, which was recently moved to the December 21st release date.

The new movie will focus on the Miles Morales version of the character. The character was created back in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli as part of Marvel’s Ultimate line of comics. Miles would take up the mantle of Spider-Man after the death of his universe’s Peter Parker. Following the conclusion of  Marvel’s Ultimate title, Miles would be integrated into Marvel’s main universe. The character has also appeared on the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man, voiced by Donald Glover.

Featuring the voice talents of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Liev Schrieber as the film’s yet-to-be-revealed villain, the animated Spider-Man movie is directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey. Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are executive producing.
