Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy has revealed that, despite reports to the contrary, Carrie Fisher will not appear in Colin Trevorrow's Star Wars: Episode IX.
Kennedy made the announcement during an interview with ABC News. This came as a shock to fans as last week Todd Fisher, the late actress' brother, said his sister would be in the planned ninth installment of the blockbuster franchise. Fisher told The New York Daily News that both he and Carrie Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, had given Disney and Lucasfilm permission to use recent footage of Carrie for the 2019 installment.
"Sadly, Carrie will not be in nine," Kennedy said. "But we will see a lot of Carrie in eight."
