The Fate Of The Furious drove past the $1-Billion mark today, hitting the breaks at $1.06-Billion to finish off its third week in theatres. Here in North America, the F. Gary Grey film has raked in $192.7-Million, while the high octane action flick has amassed $867.6-Million.
The film has become the fifth title in Universal's 105 year history to cross $1-Billion. The eighth chapter of the popular franchise joins the likes of Jurassic World, Furious 7, Minions and Jurassic Park at the very top of studio’s box office pantheon.
When the movie opened on Easter weekend, The Fate Of The Furious earned the biggest global opening of all time with a massive $542-Million, in the process setting a new opening weekend benchmark as the largest three-day launch ever.
Overall, the film has already out-grossed the international lifetime totals of the first six Fast And Furious movies and has also become the highest-grossing film from an African American director ever, the highest grossing film at the international box office of 2017 and the 10th highest grossing title overall.
