DC Entertainment is preparing to expand its digital footprint. The multimedia juggernaut is teaming up with Warner Bros. Television for a brand new digital service that will launch in 2018.
And their prepared to kick things off with a bang!
Two of the first series to be offered on the new platform will include the live-action series Titans from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter, as well as the upcoming third season of animated series, Young Justice: Outsiders.
Titans will follow a group of young heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe, and center around Dick Grayson (Robin) as he emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. The series is an adaptation of the comic book series, which launched in the early '60s.
Johns, Berlanti and Goldsman will write Titans, which will be produced by Warner Bros. TV in association with Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions.
Originally, a Titans pilot was ordered over at TNT back in 2014, but the network would end up passing on the project two years later.
Young Justice: Outsiders centers on the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of superpowers, super villains and super secrets. In the highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.
Sam Register will serve as executive producer, while Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman will produce. Emmy winner Phil Bourassa will also return as the series' art director.
The series originally aired its first two seasons on Cartoon Network from 2011-2013.
Both series will air exclusively on DC's digital platform, which will be operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group.
The service is described as an "immersive experience designed just for DC fans."
