James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 opens here in North America on Friday, and its already banked over $100-Million in cold, hard cash.
The highly anticipated superhero sequel opened in 37 international territories this weekend, where it took in a very healthy $101.2-Million. Aside from opening in North America next week, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 will also debut in China, Korea and Russia.
The movie brought in $15.5-Million from the United Kingdom, $11.6-Million in Australia, $8.3-Million in Germany, $7.9-Million in France and $7.6-Million over in Mexico.
The first Guardians Of The Galaxy opened back in the summer of 2014 and, despite being a relatively unknown property at that time, the cosmic adventure would become a runaway hit for Marvel Studios, ending its theatrical run with $773-Million.
Here in North America, the sequel is tracking to open in the $130-Million-$150-Million range.
Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and Michael Rosenbaum, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 opens May 5th.
