Michael Dorn played the fan-favorite character Lieutenant Worf on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine from 1987 – 1999. He also played an ancestor of the character in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Recent rumors began surfacing recently that stated Dorn was going to return in a similar capacity for the upcoming CBS All Access show Star Trek: Discovery.
However, this is simply not the case.
This past Sunday, an event entitled An Evening With Michael Dorn was held at the Orlando Palace Theater in Florida. Theater critic Matt Palm was on hand for said event, where he says that the actor commented on these rumors. Dorn revealed that he had been offered a role in the new show, however he turned it down due to a very disappointing offer.
"I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that Mr. Dorn did not say he was going to be on the new Star Trek show," Palm wrote in an email to our friends over at TrekMovie.com. "In fact, he went to great lengths explaining why he would not be on the new show – that there had been interest expressed, but he was not offered enough money. He said they had offered him less than 1 percent of what he made in his last contract as Worf."
Star Trek: Discovery should be arriving on CBS All Access and Netflix later this year.
