Pirates Of The Caribbean Director To Helm Micro

Joachim Ronning, one of the directors on this summer's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, has entered negotiations to direct Amblin Entertainment’s adaptation of Michael Crichton’s Micro. Frank Marshall is attached to produce the film.

For those who've yet to read the book, Micro follows a group of graduate students lured to Hawaii to work for a mysterious biotech company — only to find themselves miniaturized and cast out into the rain forest, with nothing but their scientific expertise and wits to protect them.

Darren Lemke wrote the screenplay. Sherri Crichton and Laurent Bouzereau are executive producing via CrichtonSun LLC, which acts as the steward of the late author's estate.

Joachim Ronning, along with directing partner Espen Sandberg, have helmed a few episodes of the Netflix series Marco Polo and are also known for their 2012 film Kon-Tiki, which was nominated for a foreign-language Oscar.
