Sony has finally assigned a release date for the long gestating Masters Of The Universe movie.
The studio has scheduled the film for a December 18, 2019 release.
However, there is a dark side to this tale, as Entertainment Weekly has learned that Charlie's Angels helmer McG is no longer attached to direct the project. He had been involved with the movie since last year and had even met with some prospective talent during that time period.
Sony is currently meeting with directors, while several actors, including some A-list talent, are vying for key roles. David S. Goyer, known for his work on Batman Begins and Man Of Steel, is writing the screenplay for the film.
Masters Of The Universe started off as a line of action figures from Mattel. It would also spawn several animated series, and eventually, a live-action film in 1987 starring action star Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, defender of Eternia.
