Fox's X-Men spinoff New Mutants has finally begun casting.
Actresses Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy have both signed on to star in the young adult superhero spinoff from director Josh Boone. Production on the project is aiming for a July start with Simon Kinberg and Karen Rosenfelt producing. Boone and Knate Lee wrote the script.
New Mutants will focus on the angst-driven adventures of a diverse group of teens that include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, Russian teen Magik and an alien named Warlock.
Taylor-Joy will play Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel. She is also the sister of Colossus, whom fans last encountered in Tim Miller's Deadpool.
Williams will play Wolfsbane, a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf.
Maisie Williams plays Arya Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones, while Anya Taylor-Joy appeared in the M. Night Shyamalan’s surprise hit Split with James McAvoy.
New Mutants has a release date of April 13th, 2018.
