Fans will have to wait just a little bit longer before the small screen debut of Black Lightning.
While the superhero show has yet to officially be picked up for series, buzz surrounding the project is positive and sources close to production say that the show is being eyed for a mid-season run by the network. When this happens, Black Lightning will officially become the fifth DC series airing on The CW, behind the likes of Arrow, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow and Supergirl respectively.
Cress Williams will portray the show's titular hero, Jefferson Pierce, while actresses Nafessa Williams and China Anne McClain will play daughters Jennifer and Anissa Pierce - the superheroines known as Thunder and Lightning.
Black Lightning is the brainchild of DC TV king Greg Berlanti and husband and wife duo Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil respectively.
The series is based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, and will be directed by Salim Akil. The duo will pen the script and executive produce the drama alongside Greg Berlanti and his Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions topper Sarah Schechter.
