Fox is looking to expand the X-Men Universe beyond the movies.
The network has handed out a series order to The Gifted from Matt Nix and Bryan Singer.
The upcoming drama revolves around a suburban couple (Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer) whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Blair Redford, Jamie Chung, Sean Teale, Cody Bell and Emma Dumont round out the cast.
Nix serves as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Bryan Singer will direct the pilot episode, and serve as an executive producer on the project.
