Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 had moviegoers hooked last night.
The highly anticipated superhero sequel has brought in $56-Million at the domestic box office which, when combined with the $167-Million already raked in from overseas, sets its current worldwide total at $223-Million. Should the film continue on this path, it should finish its opening weekend here in North America somewhere around the $140-$150-Million mark.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 currently enjoys the second biggest weekend launch of the year behind Disney's Beauty And The Beast, and the fifth largest opening for a Disney/Marvel film after The Avengers, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Iron Man 3.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is expected to easily best the $94-Million opening weekend posted by the first film back in August 2014. The James Gunn sequel scored a solid $17-Million worth on Thursday night, earning the third spot in Marvel preview screenings behind the $27.3-Million of Avengers: Age Of Ultron and the $25-Million earned by Captain America: Civil War.
Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, David Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and Michael Rosenbaum, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is in theaters now.
