Actress Rosario Dawson is doubling down on her Marvel roles.
Known for playing the part of Claire Temple in the Marvel Netflix line-up of shows, Dawson has now entered negotiations to star in the upcoming X-Men spinoff New Mutants.
Dawson will play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself. The character assumes a mentor role for the group of fledgling heroes.
Dawson joins a cast that already includes Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams.
Josh Boone is directing the film. He also co-wrote the script with writing partner Knate Lee. Simon Kinberg and Karen Rosenfelt are producing. New Mutants has a release date of April 13, 2018.
Aside from playing Claire Temple on the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist over on Netflix, Dawson also voiced Batgirl earlier this year in The Lego Batman Movie.
