The DC TV Universe is set to expand yet again.
The CW has given a series order to Black Lightning. The show stars Cress Williams as DC Comics hero Jefferson Pierce and hails from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil, Mara Brock Akil and Sarah Schechter. Black Lightning will be the fifth entry in the extremely popular DC TV Universe, joining the likes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends Of Tomorrow respectively.
Also part of the show are actresses Nafessa Williams as Jennifer Pierce, China Anne McClain as Anissa Pierce and Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart.
The series is based off of the character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden.
It is expected to debut around mid-season 2018.
Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter, Jennifer hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
