Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon has hoped aboard to develop, with an eye to helm, The Jetsons. Warner Animation Group is handling the film, an adaption of the classic Hanna-Barbera television series of the same name.
The original series, which aired from September 23, 1962, to March 17, 1963, tapped into the Space Age wonder of the early 1960s and made a deep impression on pop culture. Featuring the voice talents of George O'Hanlon, Penny Singleton, Janet Waldo and Mel Blanc, The Jetsons focused on the misadventures of a futuristic family led by father George. Also making up the family were wife Jane, teenager Judy, and tyke Elroy. The family also consisted of Rosie, the household robot, and Astro, the family dog.
Both Paramount and Universal have tried to bring The Jetsons to the big screen. Warner Bros. has been holding on to the rights since the 1990's.
Conrad Vernon has also co-directed Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. He also voiced the Gingerbread Man in the Shrek movies.
