The month of June belongs to Wonder Woman.
Not only does the classic heroine get her own big screen adventure on June 2nd, but DC Entertainment has now set the following day, June 3rd, as Wonder Woman Day.
More than 2,000 comic book stores, bookstores and libraries will be participating in a celebration of the beloved DC icon. The multimedia juggernaut will be teaming with the likes of Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Walmart, Costco and Amazon for exclusive in-store and digital promotions, while Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products will also be pushing the event. Additionally, comic creators such as Greg Rucka, Cliff Chiang, Marc Andreyko, Shea Fontana and Cat Staggs, will be participating in special Wonder Woman Day events to talk about their love for Diana, with details to be announced soon.
DC Entertainment will also be marking the occasion by giving away two special issues to be given away free by partners — a reprint of the first issue of the current Wonder Woman series by Rucka and Liam Sharp, and DC Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Day Special Edition, which will also feature an excerpt of the upcoming third book in Fontana and Yancey Labat's series of popular young reader graphic novels. Wonder Woman Day Activity Kits, featuring coloring pages, games and more, will also be released for download in celebration of the event.
If that's not enough, DC All Access will be launching a week-long Wonder Woman Week of programming beginning May 29th. This special series of programs will focus on the character's history and feature interviews with select comic book and movie talent.
Wonder Woman Week will end a year-long celebration centered around the character's 75th anniversary. The heroine debuted within the pages of All-Star Comics #8 back in 1941.
