With so many DC Films set for release over the next few years, fans have been curious to see which projects would enter production following Zack Snyder's Justice League and James Wan's Aquaman.
Well, it looks as though we may finally have our answer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is looking to get things moving on both Batgirl and Justice League Dark after things wrap on their currently filming superhero flicks. This puts both projects ahead of The Flash, Shazam, Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps respectively should the plan remain the same after things finish up on Aquaman and Justice League.
Director Joss Whedon, who is currently filling in for Zack Snyder to complete Justice League, recently signed on to helm the Batgirl movie. Given the box office success of Wonder Woman, which has already earned $255-Million in less than a week, it makes perfect sense that the studio is looking to get another film centered around one of DC's most popular female heroes, into theaters sooner rather than later.
Late last month, director Doug Liman departed Justice League Dark.
Based around the 2011 DC Comics title of the same name, Justice League Dark centers around a magical group of heroes who fight enemies too powerful for the regular Justice League to handle on their own. Making up the team are the likes of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan. Warner Bros. released an animated take on this title earlier this year.
Despite Liman's exit, Warner Bros. ha already begun meeting with new director's for Justice League Dark and should have a replacement lined up very soon.
What do you think, Infinite Earths fans? Keep in mind that scheduling could force things to be changed, but as of right now, it looks like the next DC Films to enter production will be both Batgirl and Justice League Dark - and we're perfectly fine with that!
